Obituary for Gerald R. Gess

Gerald R. Gess, age 76, of Carthage, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Freeman Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born April 2, 1941 in Boise, Idaho to James Gess and Mamie Reba Gaddy.  He married Jenna Vee June 10, 1982 in Miami, Ok.  She survives of the home.  Additional survivors include their children: Jim Gess, Marnie Hunter, Ronnie Gess, Eric Shepherd (Maylee), Justin Shepherd (Yvonne), Dustin Gess (Angela), Andy Gess (Carrie), Jamie Gess (Fiancé’ Thaddius Ross), Darren Gess (Lori), Josh Gess (Kaitlyn), Brandon Gess and Amber Gess; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his brother, Marvin Gess (Ann).  He was a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Gerald was a retired diesel mechanic who will be missed by all who knew him.  Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday at the Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.  Burial will follow at Osborne Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Brandon Gess, Tim Carver, Gaige Gess, Darren Jr Gess, Matthew Schleuning and Tyler Woods.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.  Please visit for online condolences.  Arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
